Councilor Loreto Camasis revealed this morning at the Sanggunian Bayan (SB) of Buhi regular session the establishment of Barangay Isolation Units (BIUs) in barangays of Gabas, Macaangay, and Cagmaslog in this town.
The BIU is handled 24 hours by the barangay health emergency response team (BHERT) and Rural Health Unit (RHU) health workers to cater to returning Locally Stranded Individuals (LSI) and Overseas Filipinos (OF), said Camasis.
The said designated isolation facilities for Covid-19 purposely to unclog the existing isolation facility at the new Rural Health Unit (RHU) building at barangay San Buenaventura of this municipality and to address the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the region, Camasis explained.
Also, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) issued an advisory that LGUs can designate BIUs that shall serve as facilities for a check-up, screening, and voluntary quarantine, Camasis added.
Meanwhile, Sta. Elena Punong Barangay and Liga ng mga Barangay President Bernard Dasmarinas do not want to establish BUI in his barangay and within the Poblacion because the area is populated and pose a risk due to its infectious nature.
Dasmarinas to call a special meeting of the Liga ng mga Barangay to discuss and resolve the pressing issues pertinent to BIUs.
