In a committee hearing of the Sanggunian Bayan (SB) health committee this morning, Municipal Health Officer Breandovin S. Saez urged each barangay in Buhi to have their own isolation facility in anticipation of the continuing surge of Covid-19 cases in Bicol and the growing number of returning Locally Stranded Individuals (LSI) and Overseas Filipinos (OF).

The hearing called by SB committees on Barangay Affairs and Health presided by Liga ng mga Barangay President Bernard Dasmariñas and attended by several punong barangays and representatives.

Saez said that the isolation facility might be a barangay building located in the village that may fit the requirements and standards of the Department of Health (DOH).

“The barangay Isolation facilities are intended fo barangay residents who have mild symptoms and tagged as Person Under Monitoring(PUM). The Barangay Health Emergency Response Team (BHERT), who are guided by the Municipal Health Office, will monitor the patients in the barangay facilities,” Saez said.

“Isolation facilities for Poblacion barangays except for Sta. Clara will be at the Municipal isolation facility located at the Buhi Evacuation Center beside the Buhi Millenium Center,” says Saez.

Saez further explained that the entire 14-day isolation period of the patients would be shouldered by the barangay, including daily food provisions, to ensure that they were not going anywhere.

Councilor Maria Bella Nonato also said that the LGU is considering financial assistance to barangays as per information he obtained from Mayor Margarita Aguinillo.

Also present in the hearing is IPMR Emmanuel Cerillo, member of the health committee.

As of Aug. 24, the town has recorded 208 PUMs with 25 inside the LGU quarantine facility, while 183 undergoing home quarantine in their respective barangays. There have been 6 confirmed cases in the town with 5 recoveries and 1 death.
