More than 11.7 thousand elementary students from public schools have so far enrolled for School Year (SY) 2020-2021, according to the data released by the Department of Education (DepEd) Buhi districts on Friday.

The opening of classes for public schools in the entire country will be on Monday, October 5.

DepEd Buhi-North District  Public Schools District Supervisor Dr. Jina-Luz Alfelor said that as of October 2, they have more than seven thousand enrollees.

District Clerk Nena De Villa of the DepEd Buhi-South District also said that more than 4,500 students have enrolled and are still waiting for late enrollment.

Parents will receive the weekly learning modules of their respective students from schools and observe the health protocols due to COVID-19, Alfelor said.

Alfelor also explained that students’ grades would depend on the portfolios they will be returning to schools and evaluated by their respective advisory teachers.

Alfelor also appealed to the parents to help the schools and their children amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. Teachers cannot do it alone without the parents who will be their home mentor throughout the school year.
