The Local Government of Buhi (LGU-Buhi) will partner with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in implementing a supplementary feeding program (SFP) to 1,824 daycare children during this time of community quarantine due to COVID-19.
OIC-Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer Brenda Gonzales said that the said program would cover 52 daycare centers in 38 barangays of this town.
Gonzales explained that the program would provide at least one fortified meal to daycare children for not less than 120 days.
P15.00 per child/per day allocation for a hot meal, composed of rice and viand of milk and alternative meals, Gonzales said.
Barangay officials, daycare workers, and other volunteers will establish a community kitchen to cook the fortified meals and be delivered to the children’s houses, Gonzales added.
Meanwhile, the Sanggunian Bayan (SB) of Buhi on Monday authorizes Mayor Margarita Aguinillo to enter into a memorandum of agreement with the DSWD to implement this laudable project.
The SFP is DSWD’s contribution to the Early Childhood Care and Development as provided under Republic Act 22037 or the “Masustansyang Pagkain Para sa Batang Pilipino Act” of 2018.
